Getting Your Pond Ready for Winter

According to our aquatic expert Dan Everton it's important to plan ahead now. Keep pond netting in place to prevent leaves from adjacent trees falling in and decaying. You will also need to continue to remove dying foliage from any pond plants. Feed your fish Wheatgerm which is easier for fish to digest at low temperatures. Feed this between October and March especially when the water is below 10º C (50º F).

Any fish in your pond should be quite active by now and you may be thinking of re-stocking. Alternatively, building a new pond might be in your plans this summer.

In any event, a visit to our Aquatics Superstore might be very worthwhile. You'll find everything you need, preformed ponds, liners and patio ponds together with tanks full of koi, shubunkin, orfe and goldfish.
