The Big Sleuth & Boldmere Bear

As part of the Big Sleuth project, a fantastic new adventure happening within Birmingham where 100 life size bear statues are to be decorated and painted by local schools and artists and then put on display for local and national visitors to enjoy, Halls Garden Centre are getting involved to help the local community get in on the action.

As well as aiming to get local residents and schools working together, the Big Sleuth gives families and children the opportunity to get active outdoors, searching for the bears around Birmingham and enjoying their unique styles and designs. While providing more national visitors to our thriving areas in a bid to improve our presence as a great destination to eat, drink and shop.

Boldmere Bear

The Boldmere Futures Partnership are on a mission to get one of these limited 100 bears right on our doorstep, due to be displayed on Boldmere Road High Street, Sutton Coldfield. However, to do so, the partnership needs to raise £5,500 to secure a bear and local business, organisations and private donaters have already raised over £2,200 in a short time, including a £500 donation from ourselves at Hall's Garden Centre.

This follows the success of the Big Hoot in 2015 which attracted an estimated 800,000 visitors visiting owls across Birmingham, with 26% of visitors coming from outside of the West Midlands. Sutton Coldfield had its own Sutton Owlfield satellite trail and our Owl still perches proudly in the Gracechurch Centre.

How The Big Sleuth Helps The Birmingham Children’s Home Charity

The best part is, after The Big Sleuth event has ended at the end of the year, all 100 bears will be auctioned off and all funds raised will be donated to the Birmingham Children’s Home Charity, which I’m sure you can agree is a highly worthwhile cause and one to be proud of within our city.

Anybody who would like to get involved, donate and become  a “Friend of the Bear” may do so at the official crowd funding page here: http://www.crowdfunder.co.uk/boldmerebear
