Town Clerk Olive O’Sullivan said:

“We’re looking for Sutton Coldfield’s green fingered residents and environmental champions to enter and show us what they’ve done to brighten up our town. We’re hoping to find the most beautiful gardens, hanging baskets and floral displays across the town. And if your favourite pub, restaurant or shop has impressed you with its displays why not enter them? The judging route has been fixed for this year, so this year’s winning entries won’t necessarily feature in our entry in Bloom, but we will be including them in our Portfolio which we present to the judges.”

And our very own David Coton said:

“We are very happy to be sponsoring the first Sutton Coldfield in Bloom garden competition. It’s a great initiative to recognise those people who take care and pride in their local environment.  All it takes is to put out a bright planter or hang a colourful hanging basket at your house, school or business to make all the difference, which in turn will encourage someone else to do the same. I’m looking forward to finding out what hidden gems we have in our Town.  We will certainly be willing to help spread the message and get as involved as we can.”

The competition is free to enter and you can apply here, or pick up an entry form our Garden Centre, at the Town Hall or in your local library. The deadline for entries is 30th June 2018. Preliminary judging will take place in July.

All finalists will be invited to a presentation ceremony with the Mayor and sponsors of Hall’s Garden Centre in September.
